Coach Julian joined our team in the Fall of 2018. He came her from Montclair where he had coached for the previous eight years and served as the sole boys' team assistant coach. He started his rowing career as a coxswain when he was 12 then moved on to sculling in high school and then swept at the University of Michigan. He started coaching when he was 19 and has been at it ever since.
He coached Montclair's Boys Varsity Eight to undefeated scholastic seasons in 2017 and 2018, winning consecutive Stotesbury and SRAA gold medals. In 2018 every varsity and junior varsity boy he coached won a medal at Stotesbury. Five athletes he has coached have been selected to the junior national team. In 2018 he coached the first scholastic crew to medal at Youth Nationals in the Boys Varsity Eight since 2011. In 2017 and 2018 all of his athletes won medals at the NJ State Championships. His athletes have been recruited to six of the eight Ivies as well as the University of California-Berkeley and the University of Washington.

Coach Rebecca has a diverse rowing background, coaching and rowing with many different teams. She graduated in 2018 from the University of Rochester in New York with a degree in Computational Biology. While there she was the Captain of the women's team and rowed all four years in their top varsity 8+. She coached at various high-school and masters clubs in Rochester while at school. She fell in love with the sport in high school where she raced in sculling boats, including at the Canadian Henley. She has also rowed at CRI in Boston and Seattle Rowing Center as a U23. She is looking forward to helping rowers at DCNRC get faster and enjoy the sport!

Coach Joel joined us as an assistant coach in 2017. He has more than 8 years of experience in the sport; rowing for Churchill Crew as well as the President and Captain of the Maryland Men's Crew team. He worked alongside his fellow coaches to play a crucial role in the success of the Montgomery Boat Club Novice program and qualifying the men's varsity lightweight 8+ for Youth Nationals in 2018. Joel has earned a Bachelors of Science with Honors in Economics from the University of Maryland and currently works as a research assistant for a local health policy consulting firm.

Coach Jacob is in his third year as the Varsity Captain of the University of Maryland Men's rowing team. He joined MBC in 2018. We are excited for such an enthusiastic and high caliber young coach. Jacob enters his senior year this fall at Maryland while majoring in Physiology and Neurobiology (Pre-Med Track). He maintains University Honors and is a recipient of the University of Maryland President's Scholarship.
Additionally, Jacob allocates time to assist others and is the recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Jacob will be a great mentor and resource for DCNRC rowers who aspire to row collegiately while balancing a formidable degree program.
